Benefits of Drinking Water

Most people prefer to drink a latte from Starbucks before they turn on the faucet and pour themselves a glass of water. Why is it that most people don't drink water? And it's even free!!!!
Here are some very good reasons to drink water.
1-It helps you look younger. Water hydrates your skin. When your skin is hydrated, it looks more radiant and healthy.
2-Water helps to flush the toxins out and helps you to cool off when you perspire.
3-Water is an essential nutrient. You won't be able to lose weight if you don't drink water. You need water to flush out the by-products of fat breakdown.
4-Combat ailments by drinking more water.
5-Drinking water reduces the risk of heart attack.
6-Water cushions and lubricates our joints and muscles.
7-Water makes you feel energized and more alert.
8-It regulates your body temperature.
9-It helps to burn more fat and to build more muscle.
10-Water flushes the toxins out of your body.
Need some more reasons????
The bottom line is that water is an essential nutrient that every body requires everyday.
So turn on that water tap or buy it bottled. Make today the day that you decide to make water a part of your new healthy lifestyle.
It's a hell of a lot healthier than a Starbuck's Latte......
Remember, chances are that you don't drink water because no one in your family modeled drinking water when you were growing up. Make that change today and be that model for the next generation.......Do it for yourself...........Do it for your children who watch and model everything you do..........

The Wake-up Call

November 1, 2009
We all have that aha moment in our life when something happens and we feel the urgency to change our life. That moment is different for everyone. For some the moment comes and they don't even know it is here. Some know the moment is here and they never do anything about it. Years later when it's too late, you look back and say, the writing was on the wall yet you took no action to do things differently. At that point it's too late. You figured it could never happen to you. For me, the day my mother was diagnosed with colon cancer was the day I woke up and realized that if I didn't do something different from my mother or her mother (who by the way passed away from colon cancer), I would be the next one diagnosed with colon cancer followed by my children. I know that everyone out there has a story to tell. Every family has a history of diabetes, cancer, heart disease, high blood pressure, high cholesterol levels, etc. What's your family history? Tell me. Do you want to turn out like those in your family who came before you? Or do you want to take charge of your health and change your health destiny? I have been on a journey towards healthy living for the past 10 years which I would like to share with you all. If any of you out there want to change your life and move towards a healthier lifestyle, let me know. This blog is for beginners who want to make changes one small step at a time. When you try to change everything all at the same time, you are bound to fail. It's like exercising. If you go to the gym 7 days a week when you make the decision to start exercising, after a few weeks you stop going. Why? Because change is a process and there are steps that you must take to get there so that it becomes a part of your day to day life. Most people don't get that. The same goes for your health. Only baby steps can lead you to the bigger steps. It's a journey I would like to take with each and everyone of you. I promise you that a year from now you will look back and be proud of all the healthy changes you have made in your life. So are you up for the challenge? Who is with me?
YOUR HEALTH COACH
Today is November 1, 2009.
This is your assignment for the month. By the end of November, I would like each and every one of you to build up to drinking 8 glasses of water a day. If you aren't a water drinker (I never drank water), you will have to build up to the eight glasses throughout the month. I promise you that you can do it. I am here to support and root you on. Good luck!
My next blog will explain to you why water is so important for you to drink and how you developed your health habits.
